Greetings from Denmark

Hi everyone!

I'm a 29 year old amateur keyboardplayer from Denmark, currently playing keys in a rock cover band.
And what does that have to do with a bass forum, you may ask...

Well, I have always wanted to learn to play bass as well, and I just recently bought a Marcus Miller bass. So now I'm tearing my fingers apart on that bloody thing... but I like it a lot!

I've been lurking around this forum for quite some time, so I figured it would make sense to sign up and participate in the fun a bit:)

Best regards

Welcome to our world. We do what your left hand does - play notes of the active chord - but, one note at a time. Not a step for a stepper.

Most of us end up pounded just roots for quite some time before adding the 5th. The 8 usually came into our playing next. R-5-8-5 will play a lot of bass. The correct 3 and 7 come later. If you play Country you may never use the 3 or 7 as it's a root five world with a 3 fret chromatic walk to the next chord being expected. The Country guys hear that 3 fret walk and know a chord change is coming and when you land on the next root note - that tells them where to go.

Have fun and chime in we learn from each other.
