dirt pedal. Sort of makes me sad that now you have to have devices that almost deliver the sound you could get out of a slightly overdriven tube amp.I'd get a used American fender jazz. I see them on CL all the time for around $800. Try to shoot for an '08 or newer. Then grab a dirt pedal as suggested above.
True or not, I like the stock pickups in the earlier Jaguars quite a bit. They are quite lively, have sounded good in 3 different basses, and respond very well to string changes. They are actually one of the better sounding jazz pickups I have personally used. And I have used some stuff that was supposed to sound pretty good.Well unfortunately only the latest generation of CIJ Jags come with decent Alnico pickups. All the earlier ones came with the same basic pickup as you'd find in an Affinity Squire. So it depends on what year yours is.
