Double Bass Guess Which Mic NEW SOUND CLIP IN POST #11

It was obvious to me that the AKG was #3 as I've used both the Ischell and ATM and they don't sound like that. Those were harder, but since Povi already guessed wrong... The Ischell sounds very good, as does the ATM, as does your bass, Rick!

number one sounded the best to me, but the second best to my ears was number 3. it was a little muddy yes, but nice and full. could EQ have fixed it up a bit?

IMO #1 sounds best but likely will have feedback problems at louder volumes.

EDIT: Now that I see the results... it's been a while since I've used the ATM and I never had any experience with the AKG. Happy to see the true results!

This is great. I have the ATM but just haven't been able to get it to work live. A lot of my stage situations are pretty loud and setup can be cramped and chaotic making it near impossible to soundcheck properly.

IMO the ATM sounds the best but the Ischell is damn nice.

Can you make either the Ischell or the AKG distort by using a really (excessively) heavy right hand pizz (or indeed any other technique)? I'm not talking about distortion in the pre-amp but in the microphone itself.

Does anyone use either of the mics with Headway EDB1?

Just to be clear:-

I do not need another pick-up/microphone.
I am completely happy with my amplified sound (using the ehrlund EAP with occassional realist blended in).

But you know how it is, new gear comes along and it sounds so good............

I have not experienced any distortion from either mic in my playing. I rather doubt it's likely.

I run mine through and EDB-2 which is very similar to the EDB-1.
