Guitar cab used for bass?

This is probably a really dumb question, but....

I have an avatar 2x12 contemporary cab with 2 celestion k100 speakers. Its 16ohms. Will it end really poorly if i try to use this cab with a gk 700rbii head? what if i couple it with an 8ohm 1x15 bass cab?:hiding:

The Avatar guitar cab will end very poorly unless you run it at low volumes. You should just run the 115 bass cab by itself, or use the guitar cab with a separate amp and roll off all the lows so it doesn't blow and just use it for dirt ;)

it could work ok if crossed over . i occasionally use a Marshall 4x12
guitar cab crossed over @ 140hz , driven by a 50w
HiWatt head .
it makes lots of grindy tone to complement a x-d over 15" cab
driven by a big SS power amp.

does your GK have a built in crossover?

being its 16 ohms, there is a small chance it would work, as it will draw less wattage from the amp than the other speaker. if you try it, watch the speaker cones to see how far they bounce to determine if it can handle it. or you could put a capacitor/crossover on it to remove the low end. a 39 uf capacitor will cut off frequencies below 250hz at 16 ohms.
