Yea I mean, enjoy the Squiers man. I don't really think about it in that meta way...it's more like yea here's a great bass that I really like and it says Fender on it.

I overthink things for sure. I would never rule out buying a Fender if it speaks to me. There are so many great basses out there, though, why stop there?

Let's face it: if Fenders were perfect, there wouldn't be so many aftermarket parts made for them.

What we have to face, as well, is that people with little or no experience in luthierie will forever feel that they can change something for the better. A given piece of hardware may be the best ever devised but if people change it to something they themselves choose they can bask in their illusion of superiority, even though it may be demonstrably inferior.

Again, not exactly what I was talking about. I'm sure there are some diehard Seymour Duncan and Fralin fans out there who would insist on swapping out the pups on even their finest MIA basses, and for good reason: SD and Fralin both make great products! Warwick is also not a B-list company wrought with delusional thinking (but this thread is starting to get that way lol). I thought we were supposed to be talking about why Guitar Center is going down in flames, we can save the Fender discussion for when they file bankruptcy like Gibson is going to.
