Guitar Center Warranty What does it cover?

Lmao so what does it cover? It said

Covers: Unlimited Repairs, Free Shipping, Wrapping and Boxing, Repair of Cracks in Acoustic Guitars (excluding finishes), Free Transfer of Coverage to New Owners, Used Gear Coverage (used gear coverage is not available for online purchases at guitarcenter.com), Pick Ups, Switches, Power Surges & Mechanisms connected to Faders, Jacks & Knobs.

Unlimited Repairs on what? It seems to exlcude everything. Does it repair the bodies? Does it cover like Damages from accidents?

Actually, it's not that bad of a warranty.

Ok, it doesn't cover routine stuff.......none do (maintenence).
They aren't gonna pay for your set up, or to put those speakers in. Diagnostics, well, how would they determine what a fair payment is, depends on your tech.
If you take the product outside the US, you're on your own... no biggie.
You can't ask for money for lost gigs (none would give you that) or them to fix the bass you smashed on stage ... ok.
Raw speakers, well, they have no control over the installation.
Finishes.....it's going to get scratched......
Improper storage...you shouldn't leave it in the attic....

The only arguable one is the Pre Existing stuff.....guess that means if you buy the floor model with the scratchy knob they don't fix the scratchy knob. How would the prove it's pre-existing unless they'd noted that on the warranty file?

That's all stuff I wouldn't expect a warranty to cover.....ever read the fine print on a car warranty? You sneeze wrong and it voids it ! LOL

No accident damage repair.......it's a warranty against the equipment being faulty by design, not because you dropped it down a flight of stairs :). Honestly, the only accident coverage plan I've seen is the one Staples offers on their computer stuff.... that paid to replace a run over laptop. Course, the warranty costs 1/3 what the computer did! I'm sure you could purchase a supplimental accident plan, but you're going to pay for it :).

Basically if it was manufactured badly. That's what it covers. Not maintenance not routine wear and tear that would be expected of an instrument and not stupid things done to it by the user. Smashing it on stage is a good example or a body being dropped and getting damaged.

It has unlimited repairs on: Pick Ups, Switches, Power Surges & Mechanisms connected to Faders, Jacks & Knobs. So long as the user didn't do something stupid to damage them

Why don't you just tell us what you have and we can tell you if it fits under the terms in your original post. Or you could just ring up and ask them

Well think about what it covers. If some part of the instrument is defective as a result of manufacturing and fails to work or doesn't work as intended. Pick ups Switches etc. Then think what it would cost to get those things replaced by some other local tech. Then compare the price of that to the price of the warranty and consider who would be doing your repairs in guitar centre. Then think of the likely hood of such a failure happening.

The only real biggy a warranty like this would save you from in my opinion is if the neck turned out to be really badly warped or some way screwed up. But you should be able to check that yourself anyway before you buy the instrument

So what you want to buy a bass is it and your wondering if should get the warranty? Information like that would be useful in your original post.

Well you should be able to check it out yourself. Unless your completely new to bass playing. In that case bring someone along thats more experienced.

I'm not one for buying warranties especially since we have proper consumer rights here. From what I've read on talkbass they seem to be pretty poor over there.

How much is the bass and how much is the warranty?

The warranty (performance guarantee) covers a lot. If your stuff breaks, it gets fixed. If your ampeg head just stops working and it doesn't look like it fell off your truck, it will get fixed. Commercial use means, if you are a touring musician, it is still covered. Free shipping means if you live in Dallas, and it breaks down in Kalamazoo, the warranty company will take care of you from there, you go to the local UPS store, they box it and ship it, and then return it to you where you need it. we sell tons of these things and the rate of problems and complaints is very low. The rate of repeat buyers is very high.
I recommend it, especially the replacement warranty on small goods, you can't beat that..the item breaks, and they send you a xcheck to buy another one or put it towards something else.
