I'll respond to this post...I know there's been many of this flavor. This is a viable path except.... the guitar player is throwing out good songs because of the rhythm guitar parts during solos. If we had to, he would rather play to a backing track part which I'm not a fan of.I am in the same boat as you. In the trio format we tackle hits all of the time that had much more instrumentation.
If you can create your own version of a song and folks like it that's all that matters. (In fact bands do it all of the time)

I do use a Micropog and it did not occur to my thick brain to split the signal. We are somewhat limited on the board for another signal, so I need to look into that. If I could split the high part of the octave and dirty that up, seems like it could be the poor mans solution for me. I currently run ampless and play through a Tonex. I do have a nice guitar amp that I could use but If I can stay ampless, I would prefer that.
