This is My first Thread O.k. I know that this topic has been put out there already and i was a bit sceptical.. how good can a guitar game be? Well I went to Toys R Us to buy a gift and I tried it. Within 3 minutes i had walked up to the counter, payed $106 Canadian and took it home. It is That good!!! within two days i Have beeten easy and medium... I only have 4 stars on freebird but hey i just got it. What do u guys think of this amazing game?

It's defintely a fun game, addicting, but I still prefer the real thing.

I am impressed how they made a game out of playing guitar, and stuck fairly close to how it's actually played.

I'm still waiting to get Guitar Hero 2 myself. I'm thinking of just picking up the game (I already have the first one) and then getting a Nyko Frontman, a wireless controller shaped like a Gibson Explorer!

And yeah, it's loads of fun. Especially at parties.

You should do some multiplayer than and take the bass/rhythm roles. I am sure people would rather play with you just because of that because people fight over getting to play lead.

It's more fun than I'd expect. And how cool is it that YYZ and Jon the Fisherman are in there? Also see Frets on Fire for a PC clone of the game (w/o multiplayer, but with downloadable songs).

I would not say it helps you play 'better' per se, but I do think that it can keep you in shape if you know what I mean. Normally playing video games for long periods of time instead of bass can diminish your bass playing skills. With Guitar Hero though, I find it is almost like switching instruments; my dexterity, concentration and stamina stays pretty well in tact.

I bet it could help solidify your timing. Especially if you memorized the songs and played without looking.

Heh, GH2 has a performance mode cheat where they just show the backround graphics and stuff and not the notes or anything. That would truly take dedication. I really think it is a lot harder than memorizing notes with bass or guitar

I don't have the game, nor do I have a PS2.



But I have the controller to go to my friend's house and chug beers and get wrist cramps!!! HANGAR 18 FTW!!!

And YYZ is just too tough. It humbles me.

It's not going to teach you how to play real guitar. But IMO, it will help improve your coordination.

I thought I was pretty good at this game until I uploaded my scores for Guitar Hero II. I'm only ranked 721st right now on the Expert difficulty. I expect that ranking to drop since I was in the upper 600's when I actually uploaded the scores. I haven't had a chance to upload scores for the other difficulties, but I'm sure I fall in pretty much the same percentile.

BTW, I'm ranked 1208th in Guitar Hero (the first one) on Expert difficulty. I like to use Scorehero.com to justify my addiction with these games. I just show my wife the rankings and say "See, at least I'm not like one of these guys!"
