Guitar Players..and while we're at it.....

Much is made of the decline of modern rock music.....

Well I hold you rock guitar players personally responsible for that.

It's not the songs so much...no.....a lot of modern rock songs aren't bad at all....

It's the HORRIBLE friggin' mindless guitar fills and bridges.....:spit::spit::spit:

Song after song ruined by a guitar fill that no thought went into...just a collection of hammer-ons and pulls to lets us know you own a Tele and can mindlessly shred and solo forever if need be...

....and sustained upper register notes designed to pierce 1/2 inch steel plate like a Laser......

Actually many of the songs would be way better if you just didn't bother doing the fill or bridge....

These are the complaints of bassist, singers, drummers, and pretty much anyone else other than the guitarist in the band ever since Hendrix. The electric guitar is extremely dynamic. Most guitarist don't understand how much more dynamic they are. Couple that with how the guitar usually sounds better loud, and guitarists are more often drawn to Rock n' Roll or metal or harder stuff... The result is guitarists that are too loud, and over play, which squashes the subtleties the rest of the band might have been able to provide. Keyboardists are often almost as bad, but not as much. It's frustrating, and is why not many good bassists and drummers enjoy going to blues jams.
