Guitar players corner!

Any recommendations on little guitar amps? I’m seeing some fender blues deluxes & juniors on CL for pretty good prices. Not opposed to a solid state modeling type amp either like a Roland blues cube. The quilter aviator cub looks interesting.

I would recommend a Bluetooth and wi-fi technologies, as I really love my Fender Rumble Studio 40 bass modeling amp. I also have a fun old Fender G-DEC guitar modeling amp. But the newer GTX uses the same Bluetooth and wi-fi technologies for updating and ease of use as the new Rumbles. And the variety of tones is amazing, as is the ease of control with the phone or tablet Fender TONE App!

I love my Champion 20. Very convincing amp models, and built in FX. They make a 40 watt 12” as well if you need more volume.

Boss Katana gets rave reviews on its models. I liked it in my quick demo.

For tubes, I’m GASing for a Blues Jr, but honestly overkill for my current needs.

...this one doesn't sound bad... I think it will work for my needs. It seems a little warmer than the original, but the strings on it were 35 years old and now it has D'Addario Nickel Bronze 12-56 on it.

Well done! I've been thinking about it... I had a Framus top-tension too. It had been a plectrum tenor that me and the Ol' Man converted to a 5-string years ago, I can't remember how many. (which usually means at least 30) I remember we often loaned it out to people who wanted to take lessons, and that it was really well-made. I even loaned it to a guy who had been my high-school drafting instructor once, for his wife to learn on. I wonder where it is now? I'll to ask Pops later today.

If you don't mind an amp head & get a cab for it,(or if you already have one)

The Orange Micro Dark & Micro Terror are both pretty good.
And very small & light.

My six string treasures

are you looking to jam with other people with it, or just solo? the guitarist in my band has a little fender champ that i really like for when we’re just writing stuff and not playing out of full amps.

i have an orange micro terror that i honestly like better for bass, but when i’m home, all i play out of is Bias FX 2 through my computer. definitely not your cheapest option to get an interface, monitors, a DAW and a decent amp sim plugin, but i demo a lot of songs at home and it’s both insanely versatile and pretty convenient.

Thanks - I’m definitely looking for something to cover all bases … I usually practice guitar in my DAW to capture ideas and such - but looking for a stout little amp to play the occasional gig.

Many of the guys I work with have cool little Fender tube amps and one guy uses one of those Roland blues cube hot models. Something like that … leaning toward solid state / digital modeling to avoid the maintenance involved with tubes … but my opinion might change once I get out and start auditioning different amps.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Don’t mean to derail the thread. Maybe we need a guitarist corner amp thread.

Let’s be careful now. If we take up too much space on TB they’ll get out the pitchforks!
LOL, I have been stabbed, stoned, beaten, burned, scorched, ridiculed, cast aside and left for dead more times than I can remember over the years here on TB. My immunity to to the pedantry is pretty fierce.

What is the budget and what style of 'covering the basses'? Roots?

These three are custom, roots oriented - T.K. Smith (100% handmade, handcast pickup housings, vintage bakelite guard, hand cut hand inlaid scroll (done on a 1930's scroll saw), Bigbsy style headstock, CARR pickups etc. (multi year wait) - Dan Dunham - Plankton, made for me, TK Smith Charlie Christian Pickup, Vintage Nick Silver P-90. GREZ Custom Hollow-body ES-5, custom wound Nick Silver Pickups, custom inlays etc - about 1.5 year wait. A whole lot of tracking sessions between them at this point.
