Guitar Rig 2

Well it isn't maybe good like som real effect but it's really cool to play around with it. There are millions of ways to get a different effect + I didn't have to pay nothing for it and effect pedals are not so cheap. I recorded some stuff and I would like to post it but where can I upload it?

Love it, use it at every gig live, couldn't live without it.
The latest updates have improved it's performance greatly. There are still a few issues but overall it's wonderful. Well I should also state that my experience is on a PC, I have read of many MAC folks having issues though. And as far as modeling goes you do have to do some work and tweak to your basses and preferences. Like any program with a lot of options you can't expect it to be what you want it unless you spend some time, not just trying presets. Besides aren't you folks using a pre or an amp anyway for your "real" sound? And if I wanted just an Ampeg sound I'd go out and get a hardware Ampeg. Allthough the modelling of the Ampeg in GR2 sounds quite good if that's the sound you're looking for.
And boy the Ampeg SVX sure seems to be lacking any unique effects to say the least. But then again I'm not looking for traditional sounds or effects from software these days, I'm trying for new and original sounds, so your mile-age and needs may vary.
Just my 2 cents.

Yep, I have GR2 installed on my Mac for about a year, found it a bit hard to get a good sound out of it. Ampeg SVX is the opposite, nice easy and great sounding app.

IMHO it's the best modeling program for bass.

Is the Ampeg SVX software a better modeler than Garageband? :p That's what I use right now for recording, I like the sound I can get from it but it takes a lot of tweaking.
