Guitar Stand Hack

Thought I’d share this little guitar stand hack... I’ve had an On-Stage three guitar rack stand for a while and just finished building my fourth jazz bass. I kept feeling like there was more real estate to be had in the stand so here’s my little hack.

The stand has removable dividers at the bottom. I broke off (with great ease) the two middle dividers at the neck level on the stand.

After removing all center dividers, I spaced out the four basses evenly in the stand and bought some 1” pipe insulation at Walmart. I cut the insulation to length with scissors to create new dividers to hold the basses in place evenly and, in the end, found it looked pretty damn good and gave me more space without having to buy a new stand. Hopefully this can be of some use to others with my same dilemma! Cost of this little hack was less than $5 and saved me floor space and buying another rack.

Hercules makes extension yokes to make their GS523B and GS525B rack stands expandable.

For sure... I get that they have to produce things with a universal consideration for use, but I certainly am all for maximizing space in my music room

I would say that you could probably get 2 more on there. One on each end. Just put the necks on the other side of of the little rod that's sticking out. That's what I do with my racks. I have a 5 and a 7 rack that I get 7 and 9 instruments on.
