guitar stand

I was at guitar store a guy was talking, he said that the guitar stand will damage the guitar neck because guitar weight rest on neck .this lead neck loose straight style of it and lead fret buzz and other problem .
is it right is using stand lead damage to neck ?

I started playing in 1968 and have never seen that happen. With that said, keep in mind that I only use a stand when on stage. Basses that not on stage stay in the case.

I would think the strings put more tension on the neck than a stand.

I believe the guy in the music store has no idea what he's talking about. The only damage I have ever seen by using a stand is by the cheap rubber tubing on some staining the finish on certain guitars (nitro?).

I worked for a while in the evil biget box music store, we would often say stupid things to people just to entertain ourselves.

The act of fretting and plucking a string creates greater forward tension on a neck than resting a bass in a typical guitar stand. If it were a problem we would all need to stop playing basses immediately to avoid causing further harm.

On a completely unrelated note, I played through that SWR Redhead in the above pic many years ago in Sadowsky's Manhattan shop when I went to try out and purchase a bass. Thing was, I had a Redhead at the time so it was a fortuitous coincidence. And the try-and-buy was a very good experience too.

A bass on a stand is only at an angle slightly less than vertical, so the extra pressure on the neck is practically nothing. As far as hanging instrument, I would think the pressure (pull or push on the neck) would be even less (possibly even zero) because the instrument is hanging at 90 degrees. That would assume an instrument without an angled back neck, but I've been geeky enough in this post
