Hi everyone,
New member here from Kuwait. I’ve been playing guitar for about 2.5 years, and a recent music collaboration project got me interested in bass. I borrowed a friend’s full-scale Cort and immediately loved the groove and feel of it.
I first bought an Ibanez Mikro short-scale thinking it would be easier for my smaller body and hands. Great quality for the price, but it didn’t quite feel right (it's slightly smaller than a Strat). After more research, and a lot of reading about Sire basses, I had my eye on the updated New Gen V7 Jazz Bass coming later this year. Then I saw the Sweetwater Exclusive Sandblasted Ash Top P7 4-string (Tobacco Sunburst) and fell in love
I picked up one of the lighter ones at 8 lbs 6 oz with a beautiful wood grain pattern.
I played it for a few days, and while it was pretty good out of the box, I did a full setup, smoothed some rough patches (back of neck & frets) and swapped the strings to D’Addario Super Light Balanced Tension (45 - 90), and I'm really enjoying them. I’m playing through an Ampero II Stage into a Tonex Cab and loving the tones so far.
I’m currently working through bass courses on Pickup Music and having a blast.
That said, I still have my eye on that Sire V7 New Gen (Mercury)… or maybe the Ibanez MDM1600. A Jazz Bass might be in my near future
Looking forward to learning from you all.
