I have this in the Basses section talking about 9v batteries. Then I thought it should also be in the humor section...

"on another note, don't be like my guitard/lead singer. He uses IEM which require a 9v.
He's an incrediblely cheap guy. He won't change the 9v in them until they go absolutely dead. Then he ends up switching batteries during mid song, causing either his vocals or guitar (or both) to drop out until he finishes the swap.

Aces...I know

He hates to carry more than one 9v as backup because of the price. I mentioned he should buy them in bulk cheaper per battery. Alas, to no avail. He had one spare that he had to use at the gig this past Saturday night. I said what if that one went out as well that night or it's a defective 9v? What would you do? I swear he looked at me like I was speaking Latin. He said "why would it be defective"? I said sometimes things are made defective and allowing for that occurrence is smart planning. His look to me was priceless.

Sorry for the derailment. Bottom line, I agree with everyone. Unplug when not using and always carry 2 batteries as backup, you never know, plus use alkaline batteries."

I would rather not be in a band at all than be in a band where someone knowingly does not bring the required gear and affects the performance by "dropping out" of a song. Especially if you expect this from this guy.

My anecdote: my first gig with a fully active bass (not a passive/active), I plain old forgot to think about the battery and my bass quit. My gf had to run to the store (next door) and I only missed two halves of two songs. After the show, I apologized to my guys. They were all joking around and the lead guitar (quasi-bandleader) said if that happens again, I'm out of the band. We kinda started laughing at what he said. Then, he straightened up and said that he was serious and an embarrassment to all of our hard work. And he was 100% correct.

I tried that on a keyboard player who was always borrowing my extra cable. I told him I didnt have it that night, he should probably make sure to bring his own. He asked everyone else in the band before asking the sound guy, and then someone from the next band. I had the cable the whole time, but thought maybe that effort would make him realize he needs his own cable. So, he bought one. Last show, he forgot it :rolleyes:

I had a show with the guitard from my band this weekend, he doesn't drive so he was meeting us at the show and I was grabbing his gear from the rehearsal space. I walk into the rehearsal room and see his pedal board sitting there on the floor, fully battery powered, fully stocked with the 4 brand new 9V batteries I had provided him at practice on Tuesday, fully plugged in and fully dead. He gets $15 less than everyone else next show, hopefully that'll learn him to look after things that are and that aren't his.

i love guitard stories!! they are so damn easy to pick on... ours has this thing with his settings on his Marshall being "perfect". he doesn't change them regardless of practice room or venue. :rolleyes: so he taped/superglued them in position. No big deal.. if he actually understood what the knobs did! TURN THE @#$#%-ing THING DOWN!! NO, TURN IT DOWN MORE!!! I mean really.. It's a good thing he's the lead singer otherwise there would be no excuse for this.... :D

Yeah, he's a guitard. Tell his dumb and cheap ass to buy a power supply so that dead board syndrome doesn't occur. sheesh.

Same old story same old song and dance. Been there and carried spares for many years just cover their asses when the big Ohoh comes up. Been this way in a number of bands I've played in. Are they in some kind of no batteries to cheap to buy club? Also carried spare power cables, jack cords and strings too. Nothing I hated more was a lame excuse before a show.

At least he play a Marshall. Respect for that anyway.
