Guitars Anyone?

I love those old Jazzmasters! My first electric guitar was a 1959 JM, bought in 1979. It was sold it as parts 4 years ago.

Mine was bought used by my Grandfather from a friend in 63... it was his 'beater guitar' for as far back as I remember. When I started guitar lessons in 82, he donated it to me. It was rode hard and put away wet... awesome guitar, but needed a restoration by the time I sold it in the late 90s. I still have his Guild Starfire IV 'Show guitar' although in a long twisted family drama story, my father is holding it hostage along with my univox tube combo.

Nice! Thanks for sharing that.

All I have for guitars is a cheap Squire Strat (junk, junk, junk) and my first guitar, a Jedson acoustic, which I've had since 1974. As I said before, the 1959 Jazzmaster was bought in 1979. Then in the early 1980's, I went through a Fender 12 string acoustic and some off brand nylon stringed acoustic.

Then 2004 came around and my true calling came in the form of a bass guitar, a Fender GB-41 SCE ABG. I haven't quite enjoyed playing guitar as much since. In fact, I rarely play guitar anymore.

Not my pic since mine's red, but I have a Yamaha SC300-T. Apparently they're pretty rare now?

There are a few things, though:

1. Instead of the normal knobs I have white Fender volume and tone knobs on it. Looks much better IMO.

2. The tuning machines were really crappy and most of them were broken so I have Gotoh tuners installed.

happy to gas you up. i have spent the last week thinking how that money could have got me a nice old svt rig and possibly even a nice gibson bass (got offered a brand new T Bird for $1050) but ive also spent the last week ripping up clutch and stooges tunes and reliving my punk rock days and ive been happier than a pig in ****.

I think my motivation is bred in not having luck finding a band to play with. I've been playing bass by myself in my basement for months now. I realize plenty of guys do this for years and are content, but I think having one would give me more outlet. Maybe if I was a better bass player, or was into more jazz solo type stuff it would be different.

Here are the Guilds...

L-R it's an F47CE (solid spruce top, 'hog body, Fishman Blender), a Starfire IV (both after FMIC bought Guild in 1995, but before they closed the Westerly, RI factory in 2001), a rare A-50 built in 1995 (serial #3- small solid rosewood body, solid spruce top, ebony bridge and fingerboard with snow-flake inlays, and gold Kluson repro gears), along with my Pilot Bass. I think Guild guitars are criminally under-rated. Excellent construction across the board and the most stable wooden necks ever. They sound great and should be more highly regarded!

And another one of the A-50...

FMIC's records show that the first A-50 was made in 1996 and is #5. But I bought mine on December 13, 1995 with #3. I'd wanted a small bodied rosewood Guild since I played a rare F-30R (based on a custom guitar for Paul Simon) around 1976 or so. Took almost 20 years, but I got it!

And here's the only good picture of my Stratocaster.

It's a Classic Series (MIM) '60s Strat that I modded with Duncan Alnico Pro II pickups.

Started with a guitar then moved to bass, though can't remember what made me decide to get a bass...probably same thing that made me want to get a guitar, just listening to music XD

I do have an starter Yamaha guitar, but here's my Caparison Horus in Scarab with gold hardware...rubbish pics but these were taken a while back and I've since misplaced my camera after taking pics of my basses

I also have an electro-acoustic Ibanez, this isn't a pic of mine but it's the same model
