Just came back from a John Jorgenson Quintet concert in a small venue in PA.
Man, they do a good job of gypsy-ing up other styles of music....there was some bossa, some tango, mediterranean stuff like greek music, and he did a magnificent job on the clarinet!
I had a chat with the guys afterwards, and they are all down to earth and easy to chat with.
Had a longer talk with Simon, and he is a great bassist, and just a great guy, with good humor, but also really opinionated and earnest.
He had a couple of solos, and generally his lines had quite a bit of movement and emotion in them.
I highly recommend seeing these guys live, or at least checking JJ's stuff out.
