So would I! I definitely didn't mean to detract from his abilities in any way. He's an amazing player.

Also, I found the other thread on him, and followed the link to listen to samples on the new John McLaughlin album. I really enjoyed some of his basswork I heard on there, as opposed to the posted video in this thread, where I appreciated the talent but did not enjoy the music. IMHO, YMMV, etc.

Are you allowed to play like that and not play a Fodera?

Just kidding Ken, it's nice to see some new playing come out of that scene that doesn't sound exactly like Matt Garisson. He seems to be (youtube & all) getting a really great tone out of that bass. A little stronger & more direct than Garrison, Tony Grey, et. al.

We don't do endorsements and have a special FAQ in my email folder to use almost every day when we get that sort of request. If you wanna see the FAQ, just email me, tell me how great and famous you are (or not) or how much we need each other and I will copy and past the FAQ like a machine and send it back in the return email. :spit: There are 1000s of good Bass players today. A company like mine would end up in the 'non-profit' classification (or out of business) if we gave endorsements to every Bass player that knew all the scales and modes and played them all on every song as well just to let you know.:eek:

As far as the Bass he has, it is NOT a Smith Bass. It is a Ken Smith Burner model of either the Cusom or Artist version. I sold a few of the Artist models to me old Dist. in France many years ago b4 we stopped making them.:bawl:

I thought though, Bass models aside that he was an interesting player. BTW, anyone here know how to play a 'rest'? :ninja:

At one NAMM Show a few years ago my son Jon made a sign and hung it up in the booth behind the Basses, "No 'E' Slapping". To try a Smith Bass that week in the booth you had to play a Blues in Db, walking with no bad notes. First mistake and we would point you around the corner to the other (more expensive NY rent/living style) Bass booth to kill their ears instead of ours..

As for playing a rest, I agree about Hadrien. He doesn't stop. I do feel though that it's just his age. I also feel that it's his environment in Paris where they are more geared towards fusion than jazz.

It wasn't ONLY a Db Blues. That was the audition to try a Smith Bass that week. If you passed, we would give you a few minutes on it as long as you don't bang the s**t of it and then tell me what you think of the Bass after your "Drum Solo" !..:mad:

Like I said, if you want the FAQ, YOU have to Email ME!.. My copy and paste chops are well toned..:ninja:

Post it here? Isn't that against the 'Commercial user policy'? I think I need permission from the Mods.. OR, someone email me, I'll send it to you and YOU can copy and paste it into YOUR post. That will keep me out of hot water with Paul and the Mods as it is a business thing.

If there is one good thing about Paris then thats it for sure!

Also, I'd like to see this FAQ from ken Smith, just to see what those who ask for endorsments get! Also, it would be really cool ot hear Hadrien on a Fodera, now imagine how good that would sound! :eek:

How good would he sound with a REAL Smith Bass like one of our trademake Elite models like many of the Pros use? All other models have something taken off it to help the price, The Elite is not our upgraded Bass. It is our 'Standard' model that we make regularly. When talking about Smith Basses, too often I see refrence to one of our lower priced models or like in this case, A smith Designed Burner model Bass that was made with some of our supplied components and completed by us. That is not what a Smith Bass is. So comparing a Bolt-on scaled down model to an upper end neck-thru is not a comparision by any means.
