Half-round Pic

I know its a bit of an odd request, but I'm looking for a pic of a half-round string (assuming they don't just look like flats).

I've read all the reviews and comments here and I'm torn between trying them or flats. I'm looking to try to take a little bit of the high end zing out of my Deluxe Jazz. I know flats will help, but I'd to give these a run.

I'll go with D'Addario, but I'm just curious what they look like so that I can guess what they feel like (sticky from what I've read).

I can't stand the D'Addarios... There are waaaay too 'sticky'. Try the GHS pressurewounds. I've got 'em on my fretless and they really sing. I like 'em so much that I had 'em on my Warwick for a while to combat the natural, ahem, zinginess of my old Corvette.

I love ground wounds. The "stickiness" is a result of the grinding process I believe. They aren't 100% smooth polished, but have a bit of a texture from the grinding medium. They do indeed feel like total crap for the first gig or so, and then they either get dirty or your finger polishes the string and they get to be quite smooth. I like the GHS Brite Flats a lot.

why the hate towards d'addario halfs? yes they are a little stickey at first, but after you get them worn in (about 2 weeks of heavy playing in my case) they play wonderfully. i have not tried the ghs pressure wounds, but i just bought another set of d'addarios for my fretless after having my first set for about a year. they just kept sounding so good up until a week ago when they started to rust from an outdoor gig i did. (left my bass outside, and it started snowing) they are great strings!

I agree 100% those things are rotten worse strings i have ever wasted money on. I hear they get better after a gig or two a month or so but to be honest who can stand em ? I could never get thru a gig with those barbed wire bastards...let alone a month + they sounded like a dog doo. I love chromes thou :)

I also string my Chromes through-body - but it's my second set. Stringing through-body caused my last set to snap - the wrapping just popped, leaving exposed core. It added about 2 feet onto the length of the string. :D

Admittedly, that was after 7 or 8 months of using them.

So I got out my replacement set of Chromes and restrung the bass body-through again. I can deal with that kind of string life. I have one more set - at this rate, I'll make it into 2009 without having to buy more strings.
