Hamer in a local shop

Hamer makes great basses. I had a Blitz Bass in the 80s and early 90s, I would have no problems recommending a Hamer.

Here is my Impact bass. It is a very light and compact bass. I have put some EMG Select high impedance pickups with a BAZ clone of the Spector HAZ two band preamp in it.

Here is a picture of the contoured set neck heel. This is one of the boutique touches Hamer produced. The battery cover is magnetic on these, but I need put another magnet in mine. Gaffing tape is holding it closed for now. My bass is not pristine by any means, but it is a fine playing instrument.

The body is carved like a Spector NS-2 and definitely has a Spector vibe to its playability and tone.

Thank you for the compliment. I feel very fortunate to own on of them. The playing wear allows me to play it out without worrying about dinging it up. I still keep it close when I use it on gigs. Don't want it growing legs and walking away.

I had the bass in my avi custom made. It has a set mahogany neck/body w/ a maple cap & ebony fingerboard...

When Hamer came out at NAMM a couple years ago, I was talking w/ their rep & he told me that they were looking for a custom shop luthier for their USA line, to get back to the high quality production that they had back then.

I also have a Custom Sunburst, Ironically, both my instruments are '92.



I remember when I ordered the bass & they didn't like the idea of painting over the maple cap. I guess they wanted to really make sure that I wanted to paint over the nice figured wood.

The guitar, I bought off some guy in Pennsylvania some years later (late '90s)
