Good solid basses. Not fancy but good. Beyond that, I don't know because it's been decades since I played one.
I've always heard good things about the USA made models. I think I'll go check it out Monday.
I think that's probably a killer sounding bass.
I picked up a black '92 Hamer Chaparral bolt-on neck in a pawnshop earlier this year for $190.
I don't know how much tonal difference between the bolt-on and neck through,but this one does sound
great.
I think they're very good quality basses for the money.

Hamer used great woods and a lot of care in design and craftsmanship. No doubt that's a fine bass, if it suits your hands. I have two of their guitars and they are real gems.
Would love to try out a Hamer some day, as I have heard nothing bad about 'em (the American ones anyways.) - But the one in the OP's pics, not sure I could get past that...eeerrrr..."interesting" body finish...
The US-built stuff is great, think...maybe...like US-built Schecter...back in the day. They made a huge splash in the bass world with their 12-string, but made really good stuff all around. You might recognize these chaps who thought highly of them...

I've owned several different USA Hamer instruments. High quality. Go snag it ant I'll trade you my Warwick Fortress. Lol.
I've always enjoyed the Hamer basses I've played. And my guitar buddies love their stuff... they all weeped when Fender bought/killed them.
I know a pro jazz player who has a 5. He's mostly an upright player, but uses his Hamer exclusively for electric gigs. Sounds awesome, with deep resonant tone. But this guy can make any bass sound pretty awesome.

Actually I meant that I didn't know anything about this specific Hamer but do remember them as having very good reps back in the 80's and 90's, I'm not sure what happened to them (other than making guitars in Korea now that are inexpensive) unless they just looked too 80's or something because a lot of pro's used to play them.

The Jack Blades signature model is the chambered one shown in the first link - that's not the one I'm talking about (although that's a fine instrument, surely). I'm not sure Hamer ever really made a 32 for the commercial market like the early one Jack played.
I'm actually in discussions with a local luthier about something with the symmetrical double-cutaway, flame maple top, etc. But I came up during the Night Ranger era...
