I tried the Hammer Slammer short scale bass (Chery burst) out today and damn it's good. The tension is tight. It's 30.5" scale with 2 soapbars (passive) and only $250 Canadian which is less then my squire cost me, but it's damn fine! I am thinking I am gonna pick this up. I don't need another 4 string, but I can use it to get the guitarist groupies by pretending I am rythem guitar or something on stage when I am feeling lonely. 
Anyone else tried this bass? I was very impressed. The other Slammer basses I tried were meh.
