No, I think he was generally annoyed that I interrupted his time at the Modulus booth. And I get it & understand, especially at NAMM in Anaheim. Those shows are pretty crazy and celebs are surrounded & hounded to death. But I do appreciate that JE willingly tempered his attitude with the discussion about Standing In The Shadow of Motown book which probably seemed a bit more substantive than the typical NAMM celebrity/ fan interaction. And for that I'm grateful to JE.@2saddleslab - I should have mentioned this before, but my guess is that John’s initial response to you was likely just an example of his very dry sense of humor! I’ll bet he was just “taking the piss” out of you, as John was approached by people all the time.
Heck, the first time I met him in ‘86 I told him I’d always wanted to meet Robert Plant.
My bro-in-law was in Austin, Tx at the park where the SRV statue is located and noticed a familiar looking guy w/ a couple women. Turns out it was Jimmie Vaughan w/ his wife & his mother. My bro-in-law asked for a pic and Jimmie said he really didn't feel comfortable doing that. My bro-in-law felt terrible asking in the first place and wanted to respect their remembrance of Stevie. But then Jimmie proceeded to explain how the statue came to be and was very thoughtful & kind to my bro-in-law.
