A few weeks ago, I ordered a Spector NS2000 Q6 online. An older model, granted, but this was a bit of a "coming home" in the sense that the NS2000 Q5 was the bass that got me into Spector to begin with. This bass came in a bit of a teal colour, and had some Bartolini pickups.
I got it in today, and like many, it felt like Christmas!
The first thing I did was notice the strings...purple wraps, tapered...had to be Ken Smith, I'm assuming. Whatever the case, I had already ordered a set of GHS Pressure Wounds, stringing it EADGCF. Then, I notice something that I half-expected, have didn't. The preamp! I had wondered, since it had Bartolini's installed, if the preamp was changed out. Since it had gold knobs, I assumed it had been changed to something different. I wasn't disappointed. I don't know what it is exactly, even after checking out the rear cavity. This thing isn't a typical volume, blend, bass, treble though. No...what I got was MUCH better. The control layout is Volume with push/pull active, sweepable mids with frequency selection (stacked), and stacked bass and treble. Whatever this thing is loaded with, this bass sounds MASSIVE!!!
I noticed a ding in the fretboard by the nut on the bass side. It's barely noticable, but all in all I can't find any flaws on this bass. Whoever owned it before me, this thing had to have been their baby. It's been VERY well taken care of. It also came with a Spector hardshell case!
I'm really happy with it so far. I've spent a couple hours playing it already, and I'm just amazed. The neck is a bit beefy for a 6-string, but I already knew it would be. I love Fender Jazz and Ibanez necks, but the Spector has a bit of beef that I find comfortable, especially when I'm really digging in.
At any rate, If I don't show pics, it didn't happen...so here they are!
I may as well have robbed the place I got it from (Music Go Round, Columbia, MO). Including shipping to Alaska, I paid $565!!!
