I'm in the process of modding my cheapo Yamaha Attitude Plus just for something to do and to make it sound and look better. At first, I figured it wasn't worth the money to do it, but after playing it more and more and not liking the sound, I decided to upgrade the electronics first with a set of SD SPB-3 pups. Then came the Mighty Mite tuners and string tree. I've got a custom white pearloid pickguard coming and I plan on either a Badass II or a Gotoh black bridge. I've always liked the black hardware for some reason or another and the chrome stuff seems cheap looking to me. What types of hardware do you like?
