Harkte HA3500 DI only?

Why not? It's a solid state power amp section, not a tube amp.
The selection of either tube or solid state preamplifier section has no bearing on cabinet connectivity.

Hmm, the owner's manual recommends against it, but I think what they were getting at is don't power up the amp and then try to connect your cabinet. Especially with 1/4" output jacks.

I've done it once but the sound is thin and you have lost the speaker contribution to the sound and tone.
There is a reason the speakers were always quoted as the most important component to any stereo system.
Unless you are playing a cabless gig where the PA does everything or you are at home with the kids asleep and you are recording or practicing.

Then it is DI only, no cabs.

Set the DI to Pre is just your bass, switch to Post and all the eq comes in to thicken it up if you want more than a mixer gives.

Oh I have no interest in doing it again, I love the sound of speakers and the contribution to the tone they provide. DI is not favourable to tone, at least mine.

i don’t know about your Harke, but I can with my Eden solid state and hybrid amps. I can’t with my all tube Eden amp.

I would recommend consulting your owners manual before doing anything first.. I’m sure you can find it on line.
Which all tube Eden amp?

Never seen one in the wild, must be very rare.

Certainly nowhere near as many as the WT series hybrids, but I’m also certain I don’t have the only one. I got it from a TBer about a year and a half a go. Nice head but IMO, lacks a certain wow factor.

One other point, I’m fortunate that I found an experienced younger tube tech when I moved to the St.Louis area. My last tube tech in Pittsburgh died last year at age 74. He learned the trade from his dad who was my tech back in the 60s and 70s. Dying breed. We are most fortunate to have you contributing to this board.
