The way I understand it, the mid knob is a cut-only. So having the mids "cranked" is a flat setting. Obviously I don't really know what I'm talking about though.
Soooo.... if the mid knob cranked is a flat setting, what if you want to boost mids? I've never really thought about things like this; I've always just dialed in what sounded good to me, which I suppose is most important. 
This is the way it should be, the only visable rig on stage is the Hartke. Playing an LH1000 with the Hydrive 8x10.

Hello, I recently purchased a Kickback 12 and I really love it, however I have noticed two things. First is that even with the volume at zero there is bleed and I can hear the bass. Secondly there is a kind of "squelch" noise when I power it down. has anyone else experienced these things or perhaps there is an issue with the amp and I need to return it. I am hesitant to do so because other then the aforementioned issues the amp works properly. Any suggestion would be most appreciated.

I am a member of this fine club, already, but it always pisses me off when some idiot just stares at the aluminum drivers and says: "They sound too harsh for my tastes, they are ok for something like metal, but they won´t cut it for some other kind of stuff".

Funny, I get that too and the fact is, it's really the opposite. My aluminum cones throw out a ton of low, warm bottom and the tight mids and highs sound great. They look different but I think they sound great. I think the head you use makes a big difference as well. I power mine with a SWR WM 4004 and it sounds great. Not harsh or tinny at all.

Sandman 1102, I have a 10 kickback and have had it for at least 12 years now. Yes, there is a little squelch noise when it is powered down. It has never bothered anything and I think that it is just normal for the amp. In fact, after all these years I am so used to it that I had forgotten about it until I read your post. I went and checked and yes, it still does it. Notice that I did take the insignia off. Plus, I had to repaint the speaker grill because it had started to rust. I had some blue touch up paint left over from my car; it seems to match the blue in the faceplate rather well. Frank

Hi Frank, Thanks for the info. I figured as much but when you spend $349 on a practice amp you want to be sure about these things. I also use a Hartke 4x10 and 15" as part of my stage set up. I have always liked Hartke cabinates. I do notice however with the 15" if I dont take the grill off it will vibrate like a MF. Any suggestions about muting this so I can keep the cover on. I hate having the speaker exposed, it is a recipe for disaster I am sure.

Is it a transporter or an XL cab.? If you look closely at my avatar, you will see a lot more screws holding on the grill than what was originally on there. Plus, I removed the Hartke insignia for that reason. I know that not everyone is willing to modify their equipment in such a way; it is juat what I felt comfortable doing. Speaker grills vibrating seems to be a common problem for other brands as well (for me anyway). I can remember having issues with my Fender Bassmans back in the '70's. More recently, I had a SVT115E cab that had the same problem. I even had a Yamaha with a 2x15 cab. in the early '80's that had a rattle in the grill.

It's a transporter and below it is my old fender 15" ported cab. It hsd a nylon grill that sets in with velcro and it has never made a peep. Also I have to say this and I hope no one gets mad but the new EV 15" I have in the fender bottom sounds way better than the 15" in the hartke. I plug the hartke into the back of the fender which has 2 inputs thus splitting the load between the 2 speakers (350 wats per side on the amp...the other side of the amp goes to the 4x10 transporter) But if I were to choose to use just one cab it would be the fender with the EV. I suppose the higher end hartke rigs are better but I never had one to compare. Thanks

No one should get mad. You have every right to express your opinion. I am not up on the newer EV speakers, but they were always a great sounding, top quality product back in the day. I would guess, without actually hearing it, that I would lean towards an EV over the transporter also. Not knocking the TP, I gigged with one for 7 or so years.
