Hartke ha4000 question

Hi all,

I have a question concerning my ha4000. Whenever I plug it into a new speaker cab and turn it on I have to turn the volume up about a quarter way and play on my bass before it sends a signal through the cab. I thought it was the cab I was using at first, but it's done this with all cabs I've used. Do you guys know if this is a simple fix or common problem? If not I guess it's to the repair shop I go.

Sorry, I should have phrased that better. The amp won't play anything at a lower volume, it's like I have to send a shock to the amp to get sound through, but after that I can play at whatever volume. I need to fix this cause I don't necesarily like having to crank the volume up to get it to connect, even if just for one note.

so, just clean the jacks with like, a qtip or something? sorry, I have very little experience working on amps.
Not just the jacks. Sounds like the pots (volume, gain, bass, treble, etc..) are dirty. They need to be blasted with compressed air as there may be some dirt in between the contacts. If you can take it to a shop, just ask them to clean it for you.

Hi, got the same problem, had the head for long months and almost non use but it was working.. inside its very clean almost no dust at all... the problem is just the same.. just now tested again and i had to put the volume at 10 for some seconds before i can get any sound... before that i checked the connections and i was getting signal from the tuner output and the two send's, no signal on d-bass.. if i plug the bass and the returns that didnt work too... so i dont think the problem is in the preamp pots... because the signal goes thru.. (i have no noise at all in any pot) did you finally solved the problem?
i used a compressed air spray in the pots..
thanks,Ivan
