Hartke Help Please

Ok i've used the search on this forum for an answer and cannot find one...

I have a 4X10 Trans and a 2X15XL together and just recently blew one of the 15's. It doesn't look blown but there's something wrong with it, no sound, just fuzz. I was playing in VERY cold weather and I know the aluminum got very cold. It just started making that fuzzy noise and I looked closely at it, and couldn't see cracks or any visible damage... I'm not too experienced with speakers at all but have been reading up on them and heard about the dust cap being detatched maybe? If this cannot be fixed, I want a new Hartke speaker, not a replacement and also cannot find anything on the net.(ive heard hartke support is awful.)

Can anyone help me that has experience with A, fixing this one, or B getting a replacement?

Welcome to TB Drew! :)

The aluminium portion of your speaker may have contracted in the cold and cracked the glue which adheres it to the rest of the driver's cone.

You are wise to seek a proper replacement speaker if the current ailing one can't be re-glued/repaired.

BTW. If you ever bring cold electronic gear in to a warm room it's a good idea to let it warm to room temperature before plugging it in.

Doing so will allow condensation (which can cause short circuits) to dissipate, and will also avoid undue thermal stress caused by powered-up electronic components heating & expanding while the surrounding chassis is still cold.

Speaking of which, what were the circumstances of your gig in "very cold weather"? :confused:

Haha... I live in Detroit Michigan and my band and I needed a place to practice for a day while our regular space was getting drywalled... So we jammed in my Garage for a few hours but I had a pretty heavy-duty heater set up right next to it the whole time, thinking that would be good enough, apparently not.
Close to 0 degrees out that day. :rollno:

Send the Hartke guys and email and you will see that the customer service is good.
