Hartke HS1200 / Kickback 15 repair!

Hi chaps,

Hoping for some advice on a repair if you can spare it. I've searched a couple of other similar posts but haven't fully found the right result..

I have a Hartke Kickback 15 on which I need to replace one of the tone controls. The tone pot has come off and snapped the spindle or stalk on which it is fitted.

I can get a new tone control from Korg, but that's as far as I've got!

As you can see the tone stalk (?) has sheared off - but I don't know how to remove it. In the third picture you can see how it is fixed from the rear. The blue component is in turn secured to the main circuit board.

Can anyone offer any experience or suggestion?

For what it's worth, I do have the schematic however it's of negligible use in this instance!

edit! I have since learnt that the broken part in question is the potentiometer shaft, PCB mounted.. while the problem itself remains..

To get to the pot. you have to remove all the knobs, then remove the nuts holding all the pots and the input jack. There may be a few screws holding in the XLR jack. This is how most amps work. After you had everything off, the board should slide out and you can then get to the pots to de-solder the broken on.

On an interesting side note, when I play at my Church that is the amp we use. It does the job, but I miss using my rig. :)

I really like this amp, I was using a band mates old Carlsbro 100 watt (forget the model, green is all I remember!) which I quite liked but was very impressed when I picked this up. Again cheers for the advice.

Wait until you get the new pot before you take the board out, make sure it's the same one. They're not difficult to replace but you can use the amp as is for now, you just don't have a treble control, that's all. If you're slightly mechanically inclined and have basic solder skills, it's not hard to do, just be gentle and don't break any traces in the board.

No offence taken, it's a fair point. I would like to think though that if I did have a pop at it, I'd stop before I started stumbling! I tend to err on the side of caution so it might be as well ordering the new part, taking a closer look then reverting to a tech..

One of the reasons I had hoped to remove the broken unit prior to ordering the new part was to check I was buying the right replacement - the pot itself is detachable from the shaft (and is missing in action) and I was a bit concerned that Korg assumed I just needed the pot and not the whole part behind...

As far as I am informed via Korg UK, the Part Reference is 'VR 100KW RK11K1160106 (EQ)'
