I recently picked up a used Hartke Hydrive cab locally for a great price. It was in good shape but had a strange rattle/buzz at certain frequencies that initially made me think the speaker was blown (guess that's why the price was too good to be true eh). However, I ultimately discovered that the cause of the problem was a bunch of silica beads that had gotten wedged inside the speaker. I guess the cabs are shipped with desiccant packets to control moisture and one of them burst at some point and found its way inside the cab. Fixing the problem was simply a matter of opening up the cabinet and removing the silica beads with a vacuum. I never would have guessed something like this, but I was glad that I didn't have to spend the money for a brand new driver.
