Hartke LH1000 died

Hey all just looking for some ideas as to what might be wrong with my LH1000. My band had a gig yesterday and about the 4th song in I completely lost sound.

I tried bypassing my wireless and pedals and just plugging directly into the head but still nothing. Switched cables but that didn't help. I then turned it off and let it sit for a couple minutes. We were playing outside (under a tent) but it didn't feel any hotter than usual and the fan was working. After I turned it back on I had sound for just a few seconds then it got really low and cut out completely again.

One thing I did notice just before it cut out was a strong smell of ozone. Pretty sure it was coming from the area my amp was in. Also, the only thing I have not tried is using another speaker cable but I'm afraid that would be too cheap and easy of a fix lol.

Oh! And even though we were outside, I only had the volume up around 4-5 as we were playing on a patio and that was plenty volume for the area.

If it matters, I am playing through a HyDrive 4x10 cab.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

I'd swap the tube before you take it to a tech. If that's not the problem, you could use a spare tube anyway. But if it is, you just saved yourself some jack (unless it's still under warranty).

Another thing to check before you take to the tech is if the cooling fan is still running and blowing cold air. i had a similar problem with a HA700, where the cooling fan got unplugged so the amp would cut off after working for a bit.

Now this is how a business should be run!!! Kudos to Larry!!! This just put Hartke gear on my "buy" list.

Open the hood and look for obvious things, the fan, fuse.tube. Follow your nose to
a possible stinky transformer.
Sounds like it was going into thermal overload. This is a self protect mode
that kicks in when the amp senses a lot of heat. When it cools down the amp resumes playing. Also check all cables, a bad cable can be the cause also.

+1 to all the Hartke love above. It was threads like this that pointed me towards Hartke amp/cabs in the first place.

This is the first post I've read involving a Hartke component failure, and seeing the quick followup to the OP I can honestly say it gives me the warm fuzzies to be playing Hartke gear.
