HARTKE (LH500 + 410XL)

Hello everybody!

This is my first message in this forum. I'm from Brazil, and here things are very dificult to find, and very expensive! The most easy vendor to find here is HARTKE.

So I decided to buy a LH500 and a 410XL (based on some reviews).

But I´m not happy with this combination... the sound is so metalic... I dont know if the problem is the head or the cab... Maybe the head is making the natural metalic sound of the cab even higher! Maybe LH500 is better to use with paper speakers.

Has anyone here tried this configuration? What do you think? Do you think VX series will do better with LH500 than 410XL?

It's the cabinet. 100% positive. The full aluminum cones sound like someone ran your tone through a bucket of quarters.

Try the Hydrive series and then try another cab company, would be my suggestion.

But I dont want to have less highs.... the problem is the quality of the highs! As rpsands said, probably it is the aluminium speakers... I will try to test the LH500 with the VX 410 (paper). It is VERY DIFICULT and VERY EXPENSIVE to buy other company cabinets here in Brazil... :(

Yeah, I have noticed that when I played on a club with this cab and the same LH500. But 4.5 is bigger than 410XL. And the 410 almost doesnt fit into my car... With 4.5 it would be an impossible mission! hehehe

I think it is not a matter of equalizing... I have tryed all of them... there are only 3 knobs! hehehe But I like to have highs in my eq, but the highs of this config is not good for me... Certainly aluminium is not for me...

In fact, I can take a good sound with my G&L Asat. But with my Geddy Lee and a Precision Special, the sound is not satisfying me. I like much more the sound of the precision spceion on a hartke kickback 12 or 15 than on this configuration (both are aluminium... so strange...).

I think in few days I will test the LH500 with the XV410, and the HA3500 with the 410XL and I will post about my feelings!

Just to be sure ... you realize that flat on this particular amp's eq is bass at 2, mids at 10, and treble at 0? So with treble completely cut, and mids all the way up, the signal is getting a flat level of mids and highs. It's not your normal "set everything at noon" eq. Sorry to belabor this point, but boosting the highs could be contributing to the already-bright aluminum sound? I'll shut up about it now I promise! ;)

I know I am a little late to the post. I have a Hartke LH500 and a 410XL. I use a Fender Precision, I keep the settings as follows:

Bass = 7
Mid = 4
Treble = 4

No Brite Switch, but I do engage the limiter.

I like the sound I get. I have to lower the bass as I turn up the volume a bit. Hope it helps....
