Hartke LH500 Problem

Maybe a check on Craigslist is in order? Or borrow mine if you live near Mt Airy, NC

Yes, I'll be seeing what I can find on CL and whatnot. I'm hoping (probably foolishly) that Hartke CS will do something for me, but that remains to be seen. As far as putting money into it goes I'd have to find out what they'd be looking had to figure out what's wrong with it and how much to fix. For what I paid for it it wouldn't be worth putting anything significant into.

As far as borrowing goes I absolutely appreciate the offer but I'm all the way up in Indiana.

There are interconnect cables between the PC Boards inside that have been known to cause trouble. If you don't have DeoxIT handy just removing and reseating the cables may help. If it has an effects loop use an instrument cable or pedal jumper to loop the send to the receive.

Ok, I'll check that out. No effects loop, just straight from the bass to the amp. Thanks for the advice!

The effects loop I am talking about is jacks on the back of the amp head. To the left of the fan.

A little tech savvy should be able to do it. Just use care to not bend other parts on the boards, they will be multiple wires on a single connector.

Awesome. And as far as the effects loop goes literally just run an instrument cable from the send to receive? Just wanna make sure I have my ducks in a row.

Again, thank all of you guys so much for helping out. Really does mean a lot in light of my upcoming obligations. I'll do my best to pay it forward!

Yes, that is it. There are contacts inside the effects return jack that you will bypass by doing this. Those internal contacts can cause all sorts of odd troubles (yes, especially if you don't use them).

I bought a used LH1000 that I run bridged and love it. No issues whatsoever. Have you tried calling Larry Hartke on his cell (201) 680-8153 ? He'd be more than glad to help ...

I have not yet done that. I'll take some of the advice previously listed and see if I can fix it myself first. I'm sure he's a busy guy and if it's just the effects loop that I can fix myself I'd rather not bother him. If all else fails I'll absolutely give him a call and see what he can do for me.

Between his noted personal backing of Hartke products, his pretty damn cool attitude, and the look we shared at a BPL event in the past, I woulda called him twice by now.

You know, If I owned any Hartke stuff...

It has probably been said on here already but if your band is playing a lot then you should be making decent side cash from that. Set aside $150-200 and purchase a small 200-300 watt backup amp to throw in your gig bag. You can use that while your amp is in the shop. But before you take it into the shop I would replace the tube and it may fix some issues.

Had this problem with my LH1000. 3 techs and a trip to Samson for repair, and it still did it. Never found the cause. Ive since moved on to Aguilar and I'm very happy.

Noted, I'll keep this in mind. Again, thanks for all the reply's. As soon as the issue is resolved I'll post the results here; the least I can do is follow up and let you guys know how it played out.
