hartke TX300 vs LH500 or TX600?

Yes we swapped both. I liked the 300 through the Orange and didn't like the 600 through either. My friend had no comment either way.

for me, it's not a question of putting up with the weight - due to injury that is taking many years to improve, the heavier ap could cause long-term damage.

Well apparently my response was not meant to be. But yes we did swap and preferred the TX300 on the Orange and the TX600 on neither. If that is the case about no tube preamp on the TX300 then it's apple's and oranges. Comparing a hybrid to a class D. That tubed preamp is pretty much is what weighs the LH down. But it and the EQ system is also what make it's unique sound.
Now these are all my thoughts and observations only.

it's not apples to oranges to me since all i care about is tone, not what causes the tone.

and the TX600 has the same tone circuit as the LH500 but at 16 pounds lighter, so i was hoping for a better report on the voice.

i appreciate you sharing your experiences since right now is not the time to go play at a sam ash store even if they were open.

Nope. Its the class A/B power amplifier section which uses a huge torodial tranformer in the power supply.

if it were the tubed preamp weighing it down, the TX600 wouldn't weigh 16 pounds less than the LH500.

I'm expecting delivery on a used TX300 to be mainly a backup to my 5 year old (and seemingly indestructible) Peavey Minimax. I run through an Avatar SB112 mainly as a stage monitor as we always have strong PA support. I will report on its performance (or lack thereof) once I gig it out.

My TX300 has lately been running an SWR Goliath 210 Jr III effortlessly. I did own the LH 500 for awhile but did not like the weight or the tone-stack system. It did sound fine with a very fundamental bottom, not dissimilar to the TX300. My Minimax has become prone to intermittent cutting in and out after five years of hard use, and I might try a TX600 used, as they are appearing here and then at fairly reasonable prices.
