Hartke VX215

I was reading yet another thread about Hartke customer service and even chimed in on Larry always being so helpful on this board. And it hit me! As much respect as i have for Larry i had yet to own a Hartke product. Now some of you will know that i have a sweet spot for vintage amps so i guess not owning a hartke isnt a surprise.

So fast forward i am doing my search of Ebay and CL for old gear and bam there it is Hartke VX-215 on the local CL. And at a good price SOOOO I BOUGHT IT!!

I am very happy with it after messing with it for about a half hour. It is in great shape and i even got the casters for it!

It is a 4ohm 2x15 cab rated at 500 watts. Sound fantastic a little darker than my other cabs. Cab seems to be very well built! And light for a 2x15 in my opionen. Love the removable casters and flush handles. Wish there was a tweeter switch but thats not the end of the world!

So now that my rant is over i am very happy i now have a hartke cab. Now what hartke head?LOL

Any thought or comments on Hartke or the VX215

I've had the vx410 for about ten years now. powered by a SWR WorkingPro 700. Overpowering the cab by about 50 watts. This cab has seen alot of gigs and been tossed around in vans and trucks. I bought it new for 400 CDN. I tried it with the same head that i had tried on different cabs, and surprisingly the hartke did it for me, even the price was great. never had a problem. I think it sounds great, good alternative for my ampeg rig. It really is a good cab.

Saw this thread and had to chime in...I really enjoy Hartke gear...everytime I play a gig with a Hartke backlined, I've had fantastic results.

I remember back in the early 90's I had an old Hartke head and ran it thru a 400 watt peavey classic 810 (tweed) and it sounded great!!! Being able to mix between tube and solid state channels was way ahead of it time. And, they are tough as nails. That head would sit in car out in freezing cold MN winters, then into hot muggy shows, back to the cold dank barn we practiced in...it NEVER failed...not once.

Fast forward 10+ years and was looking for a small portable cab...found a 2x10 aluminum cone for 75 bucks at the music store...its the meanest sounding 2x10...love the punch and clarity. Although my tastes in tone have changed, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Hartke gear.

I've owned the HA5500 and the HyDrive 410's for almost 6 months. Great sounding rig. I get a good clear punchy sound with plenty of bottom. Easy to dial in about any sound you would want.

Once, just for fun :D, I hooked this rig up with an old Peavey 2x15 cabinet. WOW! The 410's and 2x15's combined for a great full sound.
