had one, heavy (MDF? yuk), only 240w, two of the aluminum cones cracked.

I bought one about 10 years ago and didn't like it. Low wattage rating and a little too bright sounding for me.
I had one for a short while..it was the older one. I didn't give it a chance. They are heavy as heck and
those aluminum cones tend to be bright.
Well, the XL series has several models... the 1x15" (not suitable as a standalone, at least for me). The 210XL (2x10" without tweeter and sealed... I like it). The 2.5XL (2x10" with a 5" mid-tweeter, bigger than the 210 and reflex), the 410XL (same as the 210 but with 4 speakers and reflex, if I remember correctly), the 4.5XL (4x10" + 5").
The cabs are made with plywood (pretty heavy too), the aluminum cones sound good to me but they can crap out. I've always had poor luck with them but there are peoples who never ruined one so... I guess it's a matter of luck?
Some times the aluminum comes loose from the suspension... in those cases you only need to glue them back together.
My personal thought: if you really like the sound and can try before you buy, go for it. Otherwise save yourself a huge loss of time, money and patience and look elsewhere, they're pretty old products and not really easy to carry around in their 4x configurations. But I liked the 2x10"s, both of them, when I tried them. Shame every time I bought one used it arrived with broken speakers.

I don't own an 410 XL. I own a 115XL and a 210XL. Alone these
cabs are meh. Together they are fantastic (and inexpensive).
I can't see the 410 sounding any better than a 210 (just louder).

I have a pair of the 210XL's ... did probably half dozen shows with them, and I got very good feedback from bandmates with the sound I was getting (using GK 400RB) ... I liked the combination, and found the sealed cabs to be very quick, and although not carrying ultra lows, carried a nice low mid that I like ... one of the speakers in one of the 210XL's has a very mild 'rumble' to it, bought it used, been like that ever since I got it and I have played it that way without any real issues ... they do not take a great deal of power, or do not really like a lot of the real low EQ's dialed in, but that isn't an issue for me .. they do what I ask of them just fine, and make a nice vertical 410 stack ... I had considered selling them off, as I have way too many cabs, but am having second thoughts, as I almost like the sound of these a bit better than my SVT 210AV stack ... but they are only 26 pounds a piece, and the 210XL's are probably mid 40's ... running one of each also works VERY well ...
I use a 4.5xl with an Ampeg PF500- sounds fantastic. The cad is like 80 lbs, but it sound great.
