Hartke

I have no experience with their amps, but I love their 410xl cab that has no tweeter.
It's gotta be 20 years old and has never failed me. I'm also smart enough to be careful how much power I feed it.
My only complaint is now that I'm older and developing back problems I think I'd rather have a pair of 2x10s

have you tried the new hydrive 112s? they sound fantastic and are light and portable. They have a lot of punch and great clarity. The have a horn that can be turned on or off and are adjustable to be used in either 4 ohm or 8 ohm resistance. That to me is pretty flippin' cool. I'm seriously thinking of picking 1 or 2 of those up also.

Just want to thank you Hartke fans for all the info. I wanted an inexpensive cab for my house, I was sick of staring at my old GK400RB in my closet. I was going to buy used and after reading all the positive posts about Hartke, customer service, warranty etc. and seeing Mr.Hartke respond to some concerns himself, I decided why buy used and risk something going wrong in 6 months. So I ordered a 210xl. TB really is a useful resource.

I have not tried the hydrives yet. I am intrigued by them though. I would like to see them come up with some 2x10 or 2x12 designs without tweeters.

Even though I know they can be switched off I would much prefer for them to simply not be there. Why pay for something I never intend to use which could unknowingly get switched on or become broken?

I think I've given my Hartke history before, but I'll be happy to do it again.

Ran the aluminum cone 115 with a 410 back the late 80's for a couple years of hard gigging with no issues. I still have a 210 from that era that I use for practice and tiny gigs. Never a problem.

I used a 3500 for about ten years as my main amp. Quite literally, thousands of gigs. I think I replaced the pre-amp tube twice as a preventive measure, never had a problem with it. My amp guy went through it last year, replaced a volume pot that I bent, and replaced a solder on the line out.

I've always kept two amps in my rack (what good is a back up if you don't have it with you?) so I've tried some others but I always ended up back with the Hartke. Great tone flexibility, a seemingly never ending amount of power, and bullet proof. For the past few months I've been using a Demeter tube pre into a Crown. The Hartke is still in the rack just in case and I know it will work perfectly when I need it.

In my case, everything I've had from them has payed for itself hundreds of times over with no headaches or complaints. I can't see how you can go wrong at twice the price. (Attention Hartke employees, I will consider endorsement deals...)

Hope that helps.

Hydrive 4-10... Simply the best 4-10 (1000 watts) at this price point. Looks really great, sounds fabulous and is reasonably priced.

I am proud to have this cab and consider this pro level gear.:bassist:

Marc

P.S. Hey Larry, I have ordered a cover for the cab but would LOVE if Hartke could have these available for purchase. I reason that there would be a "cool" Hartke logo.

Good product at a very fair price! Great customer service overall & Larry is the real deal. The guy helps bass players anyway he can. Friend the guy on facebook and its like your family.

Been nothing but super pleased with Hartke for a long time. After using the stuff for years I decided I wanted something else and tried alot different offerings. Guess what, came right back full circle. The gear is great, gives me everything I need and then some. There have been times I've punished my LH1000 and Hydrive 4x10 and 1x15 and they're still going strong! As far as I know customer service doesn't get any better! Larry is for real and even gives out his cell number. Heck, give him a call. Just make sure it's in the middle of the night, he told me how much he likes that!!!

+1 would love to get a Hartke branded cab cover. Tuki has the right sizes, but it doesn't have the logo.

and +1 to the hydrive 410 being a great cab. It's lighter than my old aggie and ampeg cabs and sounds awesome. If it wasn't pro gear, there wouldn't be some many "pros" leaving other brands to use Hartke.
