Has anyone had a good 2007?

Oh yeah, 2007 was a year I'm glad is over! It seemed like everything I planned went wrong in some way. I decided it was time to end a miserable marriage. I was going to move into a rent house my father owned. My parents were living there while his house was being remodeled, but it was going to be done in three weeks. I alternated between staying with friends and a room in the house being worked on, but thought " hey, it's only a few weeks, no big deal", and then the house they had lived in for 43 years burned to the ground! I had nowhere to live!

I worked out a deal with a realtor to live in a house that was for sale - rent-free, in return for mowing the lawns on three properties and doing maintenence work. No big deal, I thought, the soon-to-be ex will move out of our house and I will move back there in a few weeks. Weeks dragged on to months. All I had to sleep on was an inflatable camping bed.

The weather sucked. We had floods in places that NEVER had flooded before. We had weeks of unbearable heat. Every two weeks, it seemed, I had to spend money on my pickup for one thing or another. My computer fried. My bass amp blew a speaker. I smashed my finger in a door and it still is a little deformed, but doesn't hurt any more and works fine. I threw my cell phone across the yard after a conversation with the ex-mother-in-law and a few day later the charging jack fell out. My "cooking" made me sick at times.

It wasn't all bad. The house I lived at had a beautiful view, it was quiet there; a car rarely drove past. I got a girlfriend for the summer, and got laid more than I had in 11 years all put together.;) I had plenty of work. I learned a lot about myself, some things good, some not so good. I found out I had some really great friends and appreciate them more than ever. I learned a person doesn't really need many possessions to be happy. I have never been materialistic, but when I realized that nothing in the house my wife and I lived in had any value to me, I told her to take it all, and she did.

I've moved back into the old house, fixed it up, painted everything (painting is my trade, so you bet it looks great now!) and it's for sale. My father's new house will be done in a couple of months and I can finally move into the rent house when they get out. (Then I can paint a room with glow-in-the-dark paint :D) I have been seeing my daughter twice a week and she has adjusted well. I have gotten into bicycling and trying to get in shape, and have a wonderful new girlfriend that I respect and who treats me well.

So....2007, I'm glad it's over and 2008 will no doubt have some big changes as well, but now I feel like I'm behind the steering wheel again and my foot's on the gas!

I was so optimistic about 2007 but it totally sucked. 2007 was a death year; so many deaths. No one close to me, thank goodness. But many deaths to those close to the one's I'm close with. School was hell for me in 2007. But I did get my job so it's a total lifestyle change, which is looking good for 2008.

Yep it pretty much sucked for me as well. On the bright side I found a band, though it isn't exactly a great band, it enabled me to be on the local music scene and I had a few offers from locally popular bands which is really cool :D

umm.. lets see .....

got divorced in January (I kicked her out due to alcohol abuse.)

daughter started Kindergarten in August (whom I had custody of).

Ex wife died at 34 years of age in November (due to alcohol abuse).

Got a 12.5% payraise in December.

Don't have to pay $500 alimony anymore.

Get SS benefits for my daughter.

been up and down I guess.

Seems like everyone likes to claim their year has been terrible.....every year.

I am a negative prick by nature, but I have to say.....07 has been pretty good. My goal at the end of 06 was to take my current career position, and make a go of it full time. I actually exceeded my goals set forth for that, and things are good.

Sounds like tonight might be my bands last show though, since one particular member is being a little beeotch....so that might make for a ****ty start for 08. He let us know the second that the last song was over on Friday, that Monday (tonight) will be his last show. Sorry about his luck, I guess.

The year 2007 has been mixed for me.

Good:
I achieved all my physical goals. I had heart surgery late last year so this year has been dedicated to getting better.
I did so and this year I went in total on 52 hikes up mountains and was very active and got myself into shape.

I went three times abroad; In June I visited my best friend in Denmark, in July I went to Los Angeles with a one day stop in Boston and in September I went to London.

Neutral:
Still in the same job with the same pay. It's a pretty good job though, but it's getting stale since I've been there for almost 10 years now.

Bad:
Still single, which sucks hard.

My grandmother died.

My 2007 was pretty good.

Got a raise/promotion (more $, more responsibility, more interesting work)
Bought and sold a good bit of bass gear (I call it "The Great Gear Churn of '07" or "Tonequest '07")
Made some improvements to the house
Still married
Still sober
Daughter born in July (1st kid)
I was under 30 for the entirety of 2007 (won't be able to say the same for 2008)
I will finish the year with no new debt
Despite all of the above I (we) managed to put a nice chunk into savings this year.

I would like to ammend my inital statement. My 2007 was very good.
