Has anyone here ordered a new kubicki from kubicki.com?

I just received a response from Carla at Kubicki. Here’s what she said (in summary). The cost for a new kubicki is $5800 minimum with a hard shell case, shipping is extra calculated at the time of shipping. the cost for the bass could go up depending in customization and wood selection. There’s currently a 16-month lead time to get your bass. They require a $1,000 good faith deposit to be placed in the production queue

So for posterity, and for google searches, that’s the status of getting a new kubicki ex factor bass as of late April 2025

My Jazz Plus has a Kubicki preamp in it, and given it was only produced for 4 years I wanted to make sure my bases were covered so I reached out by email to see if a replacement might be available. In less than 48 hours I got a reply that said they could supply a replacement no prob. IIRC they said it was $149.00 and would be built when I placed an order. Given that, I decided to hold off if it was that easy to get one.
Point being the impression I got was they were a going concern busy building, selling, and servicing Kubicki products.

another update: I placed my deposit for a white bass with white pickup covers. Carla has been incredibly responsive and a pleasure to deal with so far. It was about a month from inquiring to getting a spot in the build list. I paid my $1000 deposit and now just have to sit tight until my build happens. My request for white pickup covers is very non standard but their response was a very chill "we'll see what we can do, can't make any guarantees" which is perfectly reasonable given that painted pickup covers tend to be a difficult thing to do right anyway.

So yeah, I'll keep updating this thread as the process goes for posterity's sake and so everyone else who's considering placing an order can see what it's like.

I saw a guy here in CT who had a really impressive custom Kubicki he got from Phil. When he handed it to me I noticed that it felt there was more of a cutout on the treble side. He said "count the frets"...there were 24!

I thought well dang... wouldn't that be something? I wonder if that's something they would do on a new one? With a cool color-flip finish... ahhhhhh

Sorry to hear about the lay off. Hope you find something quickly.
My son was laid off 3 months ago. He’s been substitute teaching just to have some revenue coming in, but that will be over in a few weeks when school is out.
