Has anyone here ordered a new kubicki from kubicki.com?

Done trying to find a good used one and decided to reach out and order a new one. Curious what, if any, experience people here have had with the process.
Mine turns 40 in November! Hope yours (when you get it) gives you as much enjoyment as mine has me! I spoke to the lady, whose name escapes me at the moment, about getting a bit of info about neck pocket angle for a custom build and she sent me a drawing of the original spec for it! Also had a record of my purchase from '85!

I'm thinking Carla Clark is who you spoke with. She's awesome. We traded a couple of emails last week about my '85. She maintains a registry and is also extremely helpful sorting out parts orders and technical issues.
I was told $4800 when I reached out last year
Yes, I think that's where they start at.

For those interested, the big guy of Penn and Teller plays bass. One routine they did 25-30 years ago (I think at the Montreal comedy festival) had him playing walking bass on a Kubicki while explaining how the other guy was fooling them with sleight of hand. Should be available on YouTube.
Pennbicki

If any of you have not been to the Kubicki website, go now. The gallery has wondrous pictures of Ex Factor 4s in many colors. What a sleek, classy headless bass the Ex Factor 4 is.

Bender, if you have the link, would you post it? I'd like to see it. I've done a quick search on YouTube and there a lot of Penn and Teller videos, and many feature sleight of hand.

I spent about 10 minutes looking for it last night unsuccessfully. There’s videos of the same skit involving “lighting up a cigarette” by Teller but all with Penn playing a double bass. I saw the skit I mentioned 25 years ago on tv and I can guess it’s only the age of that is why I can’t find it. It was a white Kubicki with a wireless system.

Philip Kubicki's Ex-Factor is one of the few outside-the-box bass designs of the '80s that has become "classic/iconic". The fact that he only made one design (other than a Key-Factor and the prototype 5-string version) illustrates that there was nothing to "update" - done right and complete the first time. And his brilliant drop-D capo design has yet to be challenged. Long live Phil Kubicki and his awesome Ex-Factor!

These were the first headless basses I played. It was cool, just way outside of my price range. The drop d clip was cool, but I wasn't playing for long enough to comfortably adjust my fingering to play with and open D and additional fret. I practiced with a retuned bass too much to make the switch.
