Double Bass Has anyone tried Weedwackers on a EUB????

they are terrible!!!!!!! There is no tone to them, just that rockabilly click. i enjoy rockabilly from time to time, but thats all weed wackers are good for. Also, they have a tendency to pop out of the nut because they lack the tension of normal steel strings, and they are ridiculously fat (size not tone).

Was this on your NS Wav?

yuppers!!:)

i wish i knew a way to record the sound or make some sort of files:rollno:....the only issue i dont like is the feel of the weedwackers...i got use to the strings it had on before so it takes some time to get use to... but everyone thinks it sounds like a real double bass with the new strings....plus if you eq the bass just right you can get a really nice babybass sound out of them....im happy

On the weedwacker website, they say that some people rough them up with sandpaper for a different feel. A set of these came with my Pal but I'm gonna wait to put them on.

I had a set on my upright when I bought it.

they were horrible. the d and g were... ok... but the E and A where just flubby, with little volume and mostly just click and flap sound.
I think that is what they are goin for though. Most of the guys I know that have gone the way of the weedwhacker are into the psychobilly stuff and really that is all they are going for: the clicky sound. Some not, but many, yes.

I am partial to steel strings though.
