Double Bass Hat pegs from Paul have been installed!

I thought I'd give you an update. I just finished installing the pegs that Paul sent me.

It took some work to make it work, increasing existing holes, figuring out spacing, etc.

I tuned new cylinders for those machines in order to make it work in my pegbox (and also because the originals were a little loose)

Thanks again Paul and Mr. Dick Kolacny for providing these!

A screw fetish!:D Really, as long as they are doing the job holding the plates to the bass, with a little time and weather, the patina will match the rest of the bass.

I was about to post something similar. Yeah, as soon as I installed them, and in fact, even before, I thought they're not gonna match the plates. I decided to go ahead anyway, and let time take care of things, as opposed to me artificially aging those screw heads.

But your suggestion to upgrade the screws is noted and appreciated!

A higher priority right now is to get 1 of the gears to stop turning when I play open A.

Besides the patina, I think you'll find that the Link Removed is a relative new invention, ca 1930. I'd suggest a slotted head to keep the antique vibe going. Otherwise a great looking bass and the hat peg tuners finish it off nicely.

Edit: Notice that I had nothing nice to say about Paul. Feeling better PW?

Good point with the flat heads. I'll probably replace the screws eventually.

BTW, I wasn't going for the whole antique thing originally, it just turned out that way. The 3 string thing is kind of a requirement for the type of music I play.

I appreciate the positive feedback.
