When I saw your photos my heart sank and then I felt angry, and it's not even my bass! I guess I'm reminded of a few occasions where I've been in the same place, with builders, car repairs, and one local luthier who's been in business for decades. I've also had two experiences - decades apart - of two separate world famous bass guitar makers/ companies in the UK who did work that was so bad I got a full refund on both occasions. And you wouldn't believe who these companies are if I told you. So it isn't just small places that can screw up badly.
But at least the guy's taking responsibility finally and I'm glad you're on your way to a solution and hope that it turns out well.
