I can see how you'd get that, lose the button-up shirt, maybe get a shirt for a band that you like, matter of fact, don't even wear a shirt. Honestly, other than that, just keep playing, and let your fingers do the walking. IMO, that's all I care about, I know a lady who plays bass in a local alt-rock four-piece, often times in a little orange dress and heels. She looks more like Madonna than anything else, and her playing IMO leaves something to be desired, but she's putting down some grooves and is having fun doing it her way, frankly I'm not one to judge on style, since I've shown up to gigs in torn up old jean shorts covered in dirt and sweat from farm work and a large grey shirt also covered in dirt and sweat from working earlier that day, and I'd ideally fit a small. I've since grown some style, but not much.

Rock is just music, the beatles played in suits for crying out loud, you can surely be excused for being baby-faced, I'd say you pull it off nicely.

Idunno man. You'd pass for a rocker around here. But we have bands that go from top hats and suspenders (*ahem* me) to tattered rags & cutting hair off mid-show to classic t, jeans, chucks to Sun Ra-esque to all underwear to frills & pompadours. Sounding a whole range of different ways too. The look doesn't tell us what they're finna play, and that's cool by me.


If you're playing thrash, you may have to look the part a little more, but rock n roll isn't all ZZ Top beards and studded leather accessories.

I read most of the first 2 pages and most of the last page. I skipped after that because it seemed to be a lot of retread. What really matters is this: Do you really care that much? If so, take the advice of some of the posts here. If not, I say shag 'em. Look, the only thing you can do is be you. I saw that you posted about having a brain tumor and scars. Then you said that shaving your head was out of the question, or something along the lines of growing your hair longer. I say go the other way. Shave it and show the scars. How many people would have the balls to say you AREN'T rock and roll if that was your persona? Not. A. Single. One. Also, if you want to be "rock an roll"... Well, the only proper response to anyone is to have them go shag themselves. If you're 6'2" and not a bean pole, you're larger than 90% of the general populous anyway. I go 6'2" and weigh 240. I've never had anyone say anything about me looking baby-faced. This really boils down to one thing: Does it matter what people that you will most likely never see, or talk to again, think? I would say it does not. But, again, that's my opinion. You can't go wrong if you just keep being yourself. The rest will work itself out.
