have the D's toppled the SVT's?

It is on most of my gigs. Either the house gets a DI from the output section of my tube amp or it gets a REDDI. Yes, it runs through the PA's class D amps, but it still makes a major difference.

Weird. It's saying I said that, but I don't recall ever having typed it.

To you, me, and many others: for sure. To the average listener: not so much!

Who cares about the average listener? I play for myself first.

I think the advancement in IEM's, PA's and bass cab efficiency is making big bass amps and cabs slightly pointless. People will still use svts though. They are the eye candy for big shows and it's what people want to see. However, Class D amps have been a god send in my opinion! The fact we can now easily play gigs with a 1x12 cab and a tiny amp is wonderful.

I use to have a Peavey head with a SVT 8x10 cab that sounded really bitchin, I liked it a lot. Now I have a Class D head and two Bag end 15's that also sound pretty bitchin..... with the exception that its much easier to carry around.

I've said it before... I'm happy to plug into a SVT fridge rig so long as I don't have to own it, move it or maintain it, they're wonderful amps, used one for years, but like the saying goes , been there done that.

Yup. One of my bands kind of straddles that genre line, I will bring a smaller cab(s) to some gigs, others I bring the 8x10. Depends on the venue and lineup. Either way I'm running a 2-300 watt tube head with that group.
