Have the Fender AVRI pickup specs changed over the years?

Hello, fellow TB'ers!

I currently own a 2001 made Fender AVRI 62 Jazz and a 2009 made Fender AVRI 62 P bass.
I am looking around to snag another AVRI P or J, and recently came across a few candidates, a 89 AVRI P and a 87 AVRI J.

What bothers me is that both the 89 P and 87 J's pickups are different from mine.

Both of my current basses' pickups, which are stock, have beveled polepieces that sightly protrude the plastic pickup caseing.

However, the 89 P and 87 J's pickups have pollpieces flush/level with the pickup cover and are not beveled.
Unfortunately, neither seller is the original owner and cannot provide any answers.

Is there any chance that Fender changed the appearance/spec of the AVRI series' pickups over the years?

I would greatly appreciate it if you Fender experts out there can chime in:help:

Cheers!

They did change them in 1999. the pre 99 have no bevel and are slightly different spec. I have a 97 AV 62 RI J and it sounds fantastic. (old spec p-ups) I know I like the old (pre-99) strat p-ups better too. I think something was lost is the new "more vintage correct" design.
