Hi. Looks good here. Informative.
I used to play bass from the 70s to early naughties. Then i got into bedroom production. Can't say I missed the practice rooms and learnt a lot about writing. Latey I been coerced into a reunion gig for a couple of bands from the punk days. I'm aware of the stereotype, but root notes ain't gonna cut it for these bands. Hello scales. Also got some 5 string questions relating to the keyboard-driven band. Obviously start at the search function.

So far it's been fun. Dunno if it's enough fun to be in a band again. We'll have to wait and see

Playing with others was the fun stuff. Yes it is worth it.

True what you say. In fact unless your name is Stanley, Victor, Jaco or such, I can't see the point in playing bass without other people. My concerns are more about what music other people want to play with a bassist in his 60s. I've played in too many cover bands where I spend the whole night waiting to play 5 or 6 songs that grab me. I joke about drummers, but that's probably the real reason I ended up in the bedroom, lost in the process.

Yes, you end up playing the songs the director likes. I look upon it this way, I enjoy being around my friends (band members) as much as playing.

As long as the drummer is there and they call out the key I'm good to go.

I'm certainly doing this gig for my old friends. My friends now mainly got 4 legs. It's funny. When I was playing, I could be a tiny bit snobby about the music. But when I DJ I love to pull out the perfect song for the audience right in front of me. No judgement at all. Maybe cos I'm older. Maybe cos it's just for friends and family. Probably cos I'm a lot less invested in the music.

All things to think about if I want to keep going. It's been good for me coming on here in surprising ways.
