Having trouble finding my truss rod, not sure why

Hey guys, im digging under the fretboard to find the truss rod. I have it on the body side. Not sure where it is tho, Ive dug pretty wide about an inch in and found nothing so far... did I mess it up bad? maybe a metal detector. I think I can salvage whatever issue it is even if it means reducing fret count. Currently at 23, but have room for 24 plus maybe 2mm

What are you trying to do? Is the truss rod broken off, and you are trying to find the broken end? What brand neck is this?

I agree with everyone above. What specific neck and instrument and what, exactly, are we trying to accomplish?

HAHA its a build im working on. I placed the truss rod perfectly with an intended access point on the body. Messed up and didn't dig the small access hole first, i thought it would be easier to do after gluing the board. Long story short, I bought a small metal detector and what do you know... the truss rod was sitting right behind where I had dug too.

Okay, well you learned an important lesson: Make the truss rod access hole before gluing on the fingerboard. Slow down, and keep thinking out the sequence before you make the next step.

I’m glad you got it sorted out. I had an old Kay neck I had to find the truss rod anchor in the heel. I used some strong neodymium magnets from the hardware store to find it.
