One of my favorite Alphonso Johnson records is Allan Holdsworth's infamous 'Velvet Darkness' . Allan hated it because it was really a demo or rehearsal session that was released, not what he had intended but the playing is on the edge and that makes it special when you keep that in mind.

I love that album, the CD I have has two versions of the album. Alphonso really stretches out on that album. This song contains one of my favorite Alphonso solos.
